Speech Therapy
Pediatric Speech Therapy in Tampa & Brandon
Every child deserves to be understood. Our pediatric speech-language pathologists support each child’s individual way of communicating through connection, play, and meaningful relationships.

Communication is so much more than words. It’s how children tell us what they want, build friendships, ask questions, learn in school, and connect with the people they love. When communication is difficult, everyday moments can become frustrating — for both children and parents. Our speech-language pathologists meet your child exactly where they are and create a personalized, play-based plan that helps communication grow naturally.

What We Help With

Our Relationship-Based Approach
Every child communicates differently, and every therapy plan should too. We use each child’s unique strengths as the foundation for building communication, following their interests and creating meaningful opportunities to communicate through play. Our therapists incorporate DIRFloortime® principles, focusing on connection, regulation, and joyful interactions that motivate children to communicate naturally.
Because our speech-language pathologists work alongside occupational and physical therapists, we can address the whole child — not just isolated speech goals. Parents are an important part of every session, and we provide practical strategies you can use at home to keep building communication throughout your child’s day.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I consider a speech and language evaluation for my child?
It’s worth a conversation if your child has few words by 18–24 months, isn’t combining words by age 2, is hard to understand after age 3, or gets frustrated trying to communicate.
What’s the difference between a speech and language delay?
Speech refers to how we produce sounds and communicate verbally, while language involves understanding and expressing thoughts, ideas, wants, and needs. Our speech-language pathologists evaluate and support both speech and language development.
What is AAC, and do you provide it?
AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) includes many ways of supporting communication, from gestures and picture-based systems to speech-generating devices. AAC may supplement spoken communication or provide another way for a child to communicate. Our speech-language pathologists can assess AAC needs and support children and families in using AAC.
Do you treat children with autism or apraxia of speech?
Yes. Our speech-language pathologists work with children with a wide range of communication profiles, including autistic children, children with childhood apraxia of speech, and children who need support with social communication.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. Skill Point Therapy works with several insurance plans, including many Florida Medicaid plans and TRICARE. We also offer private-pay options and are a direct-pay provider for Step Up For Students/FES-UA. Insurance participation and coverage can vary, so our team can help you determine your options before getting started.
